Rounding Speaker Cabinet Edges with a Router: A Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Practice Makes Perfect: Before diving into your speaker cabinets, it's wise to practice on scrap timber. This step helps you get a feel for the router and builds your confidence. Round over all sides of a scrap piece of wood to familiarize yourself with the router's operation.

  2. Gather Your Tools and Materials: Aside from your chosen router, ensure you have safety gear such as eye protection and earplugs. You'll also need appropriate router bits, preferably a 12.5mm round over bit for this task.

  3. Secure Your Speaker Cabinet: Place your speaker cabinet on a stable work surface. If possible, secure it using clamps or a vise to prevent movement during the routing process.

What size round over bit for what thickness of wood? And, what about the radius of metal corners to be added later by most builders? Seems some important details were left out.
